God commands Christians to forgive and forget the sins of repentant brothers just as they’d like to be treated.

God is love, and He commands you to be just like Him. You are unloving when you never forgive debts and are constantly collecting. Forgiving repentant brethren of their sins and forgetting them is for your own good. It is Loving to Forgive.
