Topical sermon based on the Westminster Larger Catechism question and answer 133, ‘What is the reason annexed to the fifth commandment, the more to enforce it?’

In Ephesians 6:1-3, Paul calls on children to take advantage of God’s first commandment with a positive promise. By extension, all people are called to honor authorities in family, Church, and State if they want a long life, and a good one. God makes exceptions, but these only prove His rule. As well, the promise God adds to His commandment does imply its opposite. Take hold of God’s promise for being a blessing to society. Live long and prosper.
