Protect Christ’s Good Name
Grant Van Leuven
Topical sermon based on the Westminster Larger Catechism question and answer 144, “What are the duties required in the ninth commandment (Pt. 4)?”
In John 8:48-49, Jesus denies the Pharisees’ false accusations and defends Himself in His Father’s house on earth to honor His Father Who sent Him from heaven. He gives the example of and sanction for defending one’s own reputation as required in certain situations. Your reputation is everything you have. As people of the Word, be people of your word. There are times to defend your own reputation, especially when representing others. Protect Christ’s Good Name.
