Remember to Rejoice

Topical sermon based on the Westminster Larger Catechism question and answer 121, “Why is the word ‘Remember’ set in the beginning of the fourth commandment?”

Psalm 118:19-24 sings of the Day of God’s salvation in Jesus bringing righteousness and rejoicing within the assembly. These verses are, as are others in the Psalm, prophetic of Christ bringing rest from works in the Covenant of Grace (Acts 4:7-12; Matthew 21:42). Matthew Henry writes on verse 24: “Here is the doctrine of the Christian Sabbath … Sabbath days must be rejoicing days, and then they are to us as the days of heaven.”
