Topical sermon based on the Westminster Larger Catechism question and answer 118, ‘Why is the charge of keeping the sabbath more specially directed to governors of families, and other superiors?”

In Joshua 24:15, Joshua points out that God has chosen the Church out of the world to be His exclusive family; so they must choose to serve Him exclusively with their covenant families. Putting away false gods in our family starts with honoring the First Day of the week in our homes and God’s house, and it is the responsibility especially of fathers and to supervise holy service on the Sabbath in their households. They must choose and resolve to do so.
