The Dragon (Satan) was unable to eat the man Child (Christ) when the Woman (The Visible Church) gave birth (1st Sign). Then, he lost the heavenly war against the Man Child and was cast to earth, unable to accuse Christians any longer (2nd Sign). Thus, in the 3rd Sign, he goes after The Woman and Her Seed by making spiritual war with them, including trying to flood them out with lies. They are protected from him by fleeing to and staying in the wilderness and keeping Christ’s commandments and the Word of His Testimony. In the world, but not of it is the spiritual war of the Christian.
